About Scott Miller:
I’m a personal and professional development coach, speaker, and podcaster with over 30 years of experience as a teacher, trainer, and coach. I’ve taught people to skydive, trained volunteers at a tiger rescue sanctuary, and helped students gain admission to top law schools. I also have extensive experience leading teams of highly skilled professionals performing critical functions in demanding environments.
During my 16-year career as a professional skydiver, I made more than 8,000 skydives and developed a proprietary training program that set the standard for advanced training in the sport. I personally trained over 3,000 civilian and military skydivers at over 40 parachute centers around the world. I was recruited by a leading equipment manufacturer to serve as a factory representative and test jumper, spearheading the company’s parachute testing program for five years.
I had the honor of teaming up with a group of world champion skydivers to create Flight-1, a project which grew into the sport’s foremost provider of parachute flight training with over 40 coaches based at parachute centers worldwide.
Searching for a new direction in life and new ways to be of service, I joined the staff of Carolina Tiger Rescue, a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary that rescues tigers, lions, and other wild cats from the pet trade and the entertainment industry. As the sanctuary’s Volunteer Coordinator, I supervised a group of over 100 volunteers who performed vital duties at the sanctuary. These volunteers worked tirelessly alongside the staff to provide a safe and comfortable lifelong home for more than 60 animals. They also supported the sanctuary’s crucial education programs.
Pivoting once again, I earned a top 1% score on the Law School Admission Test and spent seven years teaching for Manhattan Prep, a leading test preparation company. I helped students gain admission to Yale, Harvard, Georgetown, UC Berkeley, Osgoode, and other top law schools. I co-authored several of the company’s popular LSAT prep books and served as head of training, leading a team of instructor trainers who trained newly-hired teachers. Our team also provided ongoing professional development training for the company’s veteran faculty.
As a professional coach accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I empower leaders to transform their relationship with time. I coach executives, entrepreneurs, students, and others seeking to change the way they think and feel about time management and productivity. I help people step outside of their comfort zones and seek out new opportunities. I always strive to “meet you where you are,” whether you are building a tactical plan to meet an important deadline, looking for a new career, or seeking to integrate a mindfulness practice into your daily work.
I live in North Carolina with my wife Lauren, who is also an experienced educator and shares my love for dogs, photography, and the outdoors. When I’m not coaching or enjoying time with Lauren, I devote as much time as possible to windsurfing and windfoiling. On a windy day, there’s a good chance you’ll find me on one of the beautiful lakes in the Research Triangle area, working to perfect my helicopter tacks and foil gybes.
